So, in the hypothetical sense, if I was going to my local schooling show what should I wear?

I would probably be entering these classes:
    English Equitation W,T,C
Hunter Hack two 24" verticals (W,T,C)
and maybe a few other similar ones.

So what shirts would be acceptable? Would a nice polo be fine or would I need a show shirt and would white fullseat breeches with a black seat be acceptable or would I need beige? Fullseat or no fullseat? I have boots sorted out, black leather boots with black leather half chaps.

    Thanks in advance!

Well at schooling shows my mom's friend would wear tan breeches and a show shirt.

Depends on the caliber of schooling show, to be honest. Is it a very small show or a more well known?

Our winter schooling series, manes do not need to be braided, but should be neatly pulled. Riders are not required to wear show gear... tan breeches and tall boots/black smooth chaps preferred, but conservative sweaters/jackets are usually used because it is so cold. Tack is wiped down but not rigorously cleaned.

Our summer series is much busier and more competitive. Riders in traditional gear, breeches, boots/chaps, show shirts, and jackets. Horses are bathed. Manes are braided. Tack is well cleaned.

If you are unsure, you could email or call the show manager and ask! Or, if you have a trainer, ask them what would be appropriate.

I wouldn't wear white breeches with a black seat for hunters. Tan breeches (preferably not full seat but if that's all you have then don't go out and buy a new pair).

Even at local shows I dress like I would for rated which includes the show shirt and jacket. If you don't have that, use a black polo (WITH a belt!)

Don't forget black gloves and your hair.

For summer schooling shows I wear a cooling vest instead of my jacket.

If it's a very small, laid back show you may be able to get away with tan knee patch breeches, paddock boots and half chaps and neat, well fitting white polo shirt. Although a dark hunt jacket and show shirt would be ideal.

So, for a nicer show a navy or black jacket?

If you have a jacket and it's not over 100 degrees, I would wear it.

You will stand out in a good way :)
