I'm looking at a pair of jeans, and they are called "Silver Jeans 29 extra long"

What size is 29? Does it mean 29 inches [as in the waist]?

I've been going to the gym six days a week, so if it's a 9 I think I can fit into them.

    Anyone know??

I assume it means waist size, alot of jeans are sized that way. When I was a size 2 I had a 24 inch waist, I believe my 29 inch waist required a 28-29 or a size 7-8ish.

You skinny people! I have a 32 inch waist and I wear a 10 if that helps at all.

In the UK, women's sizes are measured at the hip, men's at the waist. So a UK 36 is 36" around the hips, which corresponds to a size 5.

It looks like in the US pants can also be sized by waist inches for women, which doesn't make much sense as our hips are our widest part. Anyway, here's a conversion chart. *****SportingGoods.com Looks like 29" waist is a size 10. A 29" hip measurement (usually hip sizes are even increments) would be a Size 0.

Safest is not to buy clothes online, I find, as a 10 from one store is never the same as a 10 from another, and sometimes it varies within a store depending on where the clothes were originally made.
