You know, there's always genetic testing to give you a better idea although I know that's not what's motivating you. It is kind of interesting tbh.

Mystery mix is doing well! He had a big vet appt and got some things done , including having a legitimate screw surgically removed from his side. I felt like there was a scar thickness under his skin that just felt .... off. Yeah it was a screw. He’s much less touchy on that side without it in there.
Sure does make me think his history really is as bad as he acts like it is.... abuse and neglect for sure. He’s looking lovey as he’s shedding out.
Now that he lets me touch his tail and I got the dreadlocks out he almost looks civilized!

The screw could be an accident, but given his behavior, probably not:flaming:
Tell him every day "Things are different here" Both the words (to remind you) and,as you are doing,by your actions. He has a more relaxed attitude and a better look in his eye than those first pictures

He’s a completely different fellow than he was 2 months ago.
I couldn’t touch him without a flinch before... now I have to swat at him to keep his mouth off my ponytail while I’m talking to people. He can untie himself , likes to choke me with my own hoodie if I’m not watching. Mouthy , happy go lucky little dude. Nice to see his personality coming out , and being able to gently discipline him without him panicking thinking I’m going to beat him.
Still not ok with most men or strangers who want to pet him, which is difficult because everyone wants to touch him. He’s getting better though.

Looks like a gypsy vanner crossed with something else.
