    What hay do you feed? I switch between Coastal Bermuda and Bahia Grass
    (Its just what I have readily available locally)

    I feed brome, but it's the common haycrop for horses in this area. My horses won't touch timothy or orchardgrass. They would rather eat fescue than those two. They eat every bit of the brome though.

    I've actually never heard of that type of hay. If you don't mind me asking where are you located?

    Missouri. It is actually a native grass here as well as in Kansas. It will die out if used as pasture since it does not do well for grazing. You get one cutting for hay, and it doesn't grow back until the next year.

    Our boarding facility feeds a combination of alfalfa and timothy.

    Orchard/mix is native in Middle Tennessee, along with fescue.

    When we first moved here my horses wouldn't touch orchard or fescue. They eat orchard hay now that they have been here several years.

    I buy bales of Timothy/orchardgrass and then mix in a flake or 2 of alfalfa (one of those 50lb standlee compressed bales from tractor supply)

    Orchard and alfalfa, but I did get a brome/alfalfa mix this year that was fabulous.
