I actually managed to keep River quite white for a good portion of time into the yuck season but have been a bad horse mom the last month and only been mucking and feeding and leaving because it is MISERABLE. Just having a second ice storm in a month currently that put my town without power from 3-9 days depending on where you lived.

I want dry weather again to enjoy my ponies. I wish I had the nice indoor you now have!!!

Nice pics. I love the smoky/steamy etherealness of this one (y)

This time of year, if the footing isnt slippery wet, frozen solid, or spiked with rocks, Id take it as "pretty good footing".

It’s so wonderful! I’m getting very spoiled very quickly! And the barn manager is awesome and super helpful, too. He really cares about the horses. Moving was the best decision ever!

Been where you are for sure. At the old place, I probably wouldn’t have been out at the barn at all recently and certainly wouldn’t have ridden the day I took those pictures.

That's awesome! I'm going to look at a new facility on Saturday to move my girls closer to where I've just moved to, but unfortunately a place with an indoor isn't in my budget. One day I'll be spoiled with an indoor again...

I love indoor arenas that have stalls and aisles on the sides! It makes it so cozy when its cold outside.

Well. Little miss Brandi hasn’t been eating much of her hay. We think maybe it’s a teeth issue. She cleans up her grain and seems to want to eat, but seems to be having some trouble with the larger pieces of hay. Gonna have to get her teeth taken care of. Had the vet look at them in the spring but he claimed they were fine and didn’t need done. BM knows an actual equine dentist so we’re gonna go that route.

No telling how well she did or didn’t eat her hay at the old place. She was put with another horse and a pony so who knows how much she did or didn’t eat. They would have cleaned up anything she left.

She was real restless today and had a stressed/worried look when I got there. I took her out for a walk and let her dig for some grass in the snow. Then I hung out with her for a while inside in her little pen and that seemed to help her.

She heard the people across the street start their diesel truck. Lol Excuse the ratty halter. :p That’s the one I gave them to use to lead her in and out. It’s old and faded anyway so hanging on a fence post all day when she goes out is a-okay.

Back inside and watching BM get the evening feed ready.

Brandi’s all settled in now. She’s eating normally again (she wasn’t for a bit. Forget if I mentioned it or not) and the weather has been good enough for them to put her outside during the day. Which she is loving. And she’s remembering how to groundtie. Before today she “forgot.”

We played on the barrel pattern today a little bit. She was so excited! The barrels were already set up when we went in the arena and she was forward and eager and wanted to go! She kept wanting to take me to the barrels and turn them. She listened to me fine, but I could tell she really wanted to do it. So, okay. We did it. She loved it! Happy pony was quite content and pleased with herself afterwards. We’re rusty, but we’re really going to enjoy being somewhere where we can do more than just trot the pattern or slow lope. When she’s more fit, I’m going to bring her running bridle out and we’ll play with some speed a little bit.

We finished our ride outside where we’ll do most of our riding spring and summer.

Definitely! :D and a little unsure about me stepping away from her to take the pictures, too. “Wait! Where are you going? You can’t leave me alone! Take me with you!” :p
