Had a really good desensitization session with him on Friday. We did the whole bag on an end of a whip, tarp, wheels, etc. He really isn't phased by too much. Also did some more work standing by a mounting block.

We are getting to a point now where in hand work is becoming boring. I don't believe in doing much of any lunging with 2 year olds so he probably won't have a very exciting winter...hope he keeps on growing! Will probably start some ground driving late winter/early spring.

Put some braids in his mane today to help keep it cleaner during the winter. Grow mane grow!!!!

He's a beautiful boy, and he's coming along great. Come June, he'll have matured tremendously.

Haven't been doing much with Sev the last few weeks.

Pulled him out yesterday and put him on the lunge. Starting to teach him whoa/walk/trot so he gets the generally idea on what he is supposed to do. Had a friend hold him and my entire weight over his back. He didn't even blink an eye! Going to be a very easy start when the time comes I think!

Sev's finally getting the lunging down! He can reliably walk and trot in a circular shape! Have continued to put my full weight over his back at the end of our sessions, he really is doing so well! And -- he's GROWING!! Almost 15 hands!

I'd really love a 16-17 hand horse! I'd be fine with 15.3 though. He has only one full sibling who ended up being 16 hands.

I'm going to try to get some more pictures today as long as I can remember!

Anyways, Sev is now officially 15 hands!! So excited to see this little one growing up into a horse. Lunging is getting a little easier, though I'm not doing it super seriously so he still has plenty of baby moments. He is also a-okay with me laying over his back and having a friend lead him around at the walk. :)

I am sorry I haven't updated in so long! It has been brutally cold here so I have not been doing anything super consistent with the little guy - boy is he growing though! He is getting more reliable with lunging even though he does it only 1-2 days a week for 10 minutes. We have been practicing just putting a plain bit in his mouth, in and out for a few seconds and that doesn't seem to be a huge deal. I am not going to consistently bit him until he has had a full oral exam under sedation by the vet come spring.

Sev in comparison to Imp who is 15.3 hands.

His mouth still goes on anything and everything!

He has a tail to die for, it is SO thick.

Otherwise, in typical young horse fashion he has been altering his wardrobe to fit his taste ;)
