How do you teach a saddlebred to park out?
I am new to saddlebreds, spent most of my life riding hunters so i have no idea.
    Thanks in advance. :D

Have you tried www.trot.org ? There are alot of knowledgeable saddlebred owners there and they are very friendly and willing to help.

You're welcome. I know they gave me lots of info on my Saddlebred when I first got her. Enjoy your Saddlebred they are great horses :)! And who knows maybe she would enjoy hunting? They are great all around horses.

I gess my next question is this: Is it even really necessary to teach a country pleasure horse how to park out? How about Show Pleasure?

Country pleasure no, but for show pleasure I'm not certain but I don;t think so. I think it's more of a saddleseat &/or gaited thing. My saddlebred has never learned, but we don't do shows, just trail riding although her original owners planned on showing her in western and she isn't gaited.

CP_Dude, Thoroughbreds were one of the foundation breeds in creating the Saddlebred.

Are you wanting to know how to ask from the ground or from undersaddle. I work with weanlings and yearlings in hand and teach them all to park out on the ground.

Yes, for nearly all Saddlebred classes from Harness to Under saddle, you should park out in the line up. (usually in the harness classes there is a header in the ring to do it for you)

On the www.trot.org site, actually, in the AOT section, which is the first section you will come to below the forum update section, there is a good thread on it. You may have to look through a few pages to find it. It was a while back.
