I just don't get it. He'll fly at the dog, chase the tractor, challenge a helicopter to a death match, AND let the hens pluck all his feathers out.
Like. . . Dude, you are such a funky little brainless badass, just don't let them peck you!

Well, I am not holding out much hope for Nardole babies any time soon. Doesn't seem to have ANY drive in that particular direction lol.

SO Rory has been picking on the little chicks, and instigating some of the other birds as well. I managed to separate the 4 troublemakers for a while, but in an area without good shade, and it is in the 80s again today. What to do??
    Well.
    I let the pullets out
And put Rory in with angry broody momma hen, aka Susan.

Within 1 minute he was cowering in the coop. He made the mistake of lunging at her like he does the pullets, and while she is half his size, she is an old feral hen with babies to protect and boy got himself a BEATING.
She had him by the neck at one point, pinned against the wall while she flogged him and clawed at him. I had to intervene or she MIGHT have killed him.
Safe to say, he has learned his lesson and I think shall be all the more respectful for it. If one of the chicks even LOOKS at him he flees. I'll let him out tonight, I won't make him sleep on tbe ground like a chick.

Triumphant Susan and the babies. This is a picture from last night, but is also how I left them earlier.
Rory is hiding outside. He has shade and water, and miraculously escaped injury. He'll be fine, I honestly think it is just what he needed!
