Me and DD went for my birthday trail ride. It was her first ride out, except for across the road to my mom's or in the hay field. My two options for her to ride were Blue, who is a great arena horse, but a lookylou on trails and spooks at sounds from the squirrels lol. Or Chloe, who is my best show horse.

I let her ride Chloe and i rode Blue, who had worked herself into a sweat by the time we got home, chloe was barely sweating, despite the heat, she was relaxed, head down and didn't misbehave one bit. Some horses are just priceless!

I love these horses who adapt for their riders: great babysitters for children and beginners, more challenging for advanced riders and pros.
They are worth they weight in gold, at least.

And only Chloe's second ride after a month and a half off making embryos in Texas. Everyone wonders why she's my favorite.

How old is that darling child? Looks like she was born to ride, lovely horse, too.

Is this the saddle that needed breaking in? Look at those boots, lol,

They are! That's Sparky in a nutshell. He will flatly refuse to trot if he doesn't feel his rider is ready (even if the instructor is chasing him with a lunge whip!). He's the best babysitter ever but when I get on him, he's ready to go and offers me a good, energetic ride (complete with faux spooking at obstacles that he wouldn't even notice if he had a beginner on his back  ).

His current leaser has asked me twice now if I'd sell him to her and the answer is a flat no. Her horse is way too much for her and has shattered her confidence - Sparky gently carries her on long, solo trail rides and she feels perfectly safe.

Very cute pair, @endurgirl . And I love the boots too!

Lmao, when she stands up, they touch the ground. And any bigger size will fall off!!

She's 4 and yes that's the saddle. The stirrups have been turned since i oiled it except to ride.
