A lot of you know my boyfriend is deployed and I flew to England to meet him on his 2-week leave. I met him in London on September 20. The plan was to tour around England for the duration and meet his family that is still in the UK. At least, that's what I thought. Turns out he's been a little busier than I thought. Now I have to get used to calling him my fiance. I guess he got back onto Facebook a few weeks ago (despite the total ban on Facebook imposed by the army) to get in touch with my parents and ask their permission. He couldn't call or really email them, so he had to go through Facebook. Then he sent another soldier "who has done this before" to scout out the best jewellery stores in the town their base is in. That way, he didn't waste time going to all the jewellery stores on his limited time off. After that, he had to figure out how to ask the salesperson where the engagement rings were, because she couldn't speak English and he couldn't speak her language. It ended up with him getting down on one knee in the store, in his combats, to pantomine asking a girl to marry him. Originally, he planned to take me to Paris and propose there. He had dinner reservations and everything, but was too excited to wait so he asked the very first night we were there. "It's been a pretty perfect night so far, hasn't it? You know what would make it more perfect? If you agreed to marry me. Will you?" So now I have this beautiful baltic red gold band with a really sparkly diamond on it. I swear I'm like a magpie, because it catches my eye every single time I move my hand. I've never seen red gold before and it's stunning. I will post pictures when the wifi is a little better.
