So you travel 9 hrs for a show? Wow the most I traveled for a show was 3 hrs.
For a normal show, no. But that is a World Championship show so it is worth it.
I drive 6 hours one way to get to my breed shows!! And around 24 one way to get to Worlds. I am quite jealous you're so close to everything!!
It is so nice! Indiana’s main 3 AQHA show grounds are wishing 2 hrs from me. The other two that host QH shows are more like 5-6 so I usually just skip those since those ones are smaller weekend ones anyway.
I actually looked into moving to IL or within the general area for this very reason. I show ApHC and there are a TON of shows in that area. I'm close to Canada so I'd go to the Appy shows up there (they're closer than the ND ones), but they don't get enough people in the classes to make it count for points. Boo.
Wow 24 hours?
Yep, it's a bit of a hike to go from Montana to Texas and back. But totally worth it.
Congrats! I drove 12-13 hours to the AQHA Level 1 Champ Show in Ohio, but it was well worth it....I placed 10th in my WP class, I'd rather skip the smaller shows to go to a big prestigious show any day. Now, you want to talk about travelling....my trainer moved back to CA, I live in MA and we're doing some show out west this year...Las Vegas etc. I can burn just as much money going to one of those shows than I can going to our local AQHA Region 6 Champ show last year!
The Vegas facility is awesome! That’s going to be so fun!!!! I agree about preferring large shows. I’d rather go to a championship vs a weekend show any day
