Sounds like they fall into that "some people" group..the ones who always seem to know it all and never listen to advise.

Wow, round pens have their place but the original advice is to the OP.

You just need to love/bond/trust with a horse before you try to do anything with it.

Oh please. So SICK of hearing that claptrap.

Right! I haven't ridden in 2 weeks due to the terribly cold weather up here, and even though I feel guilty for personal reasons, I'm 150% certain my horse is totally fine with her little 'vacation'. She's a horse, and all she needs in life to be happy is to be a horse. Is she okay with being a riding and show horse when I want her to be? Of course. Would she be stressed and unhappy if one day I just decided to open the gate and let her go (metaphorically)? Absolutely not.

With my TB, the longer he is worked, the faster he gets. He has quite a bit of energy when he is in shape. When he would stop running, either he would've stopped breathing or there would have been some serious damage done. If my boy is misbehaving, a slap and a "no!" if I'm on the ground or just getting back on and trying again if I was dumped under saddle would do the trick.

That's what cracks me up about the CA "move his feet!" thing. Bella's favorite thing to do is move her feet. She'd far rather be going around in senseless circles than doing whatever it is I'm trying to get her to do, if it involves standing still or being confined.

Sparky - that works for him. He'd rather not have to work overmuch. But Bella would work until she dropped.

Well you do have the wrong equipment so what do you expect? Get yourself a sandboard and try again! :rpony::rpony::rpony::woot:
