Fever is spiking less often.
Day 3 of IV fluids and Oxytet.
She's pretty exhausted.
Jingling constantly, I just woke up from a nap and this is good to hear. She's a trooper, poor babe.
Hope she recovers quick and avoids laminitis!
How often is she up? Ca you put her in ice boots?
She's getting iced every 4 hours during the day.
Titers came back, it's not PHF....
SO we're puzzled.
She's on the mend but it was sketchy there for a bit.
Well, whatever it is it's knocked her for a loop. Still jingling her way.
Mine didn't come back as PHF either, as far as my vet is concerned it most definitely was.
Any chance she has a tick-borne disease? I know some of the symptoms can be the same as far a high fever and a lackluster personality and so-on.
Do horses get meningitis from ticks like humans can?
Or is it "just" borreliosis (sp?)? That can have so many different symptoms!
Did she receive any vaccines just recently prior to the symptoms?? My Arab had a delayed reaction to the Rabies vaccine two years in a row. First symptoms didn't appear until 21 - 28 days after the vaccine. First year vet thought she had Potomac, but then since she dramatically improved after just one day's treatment, vet ruled Potomac out... I believed it was a vaccine reaction from the start, but vet was not convinced. Then the next year, same timeline, same symptoms after Rabies vaccine.... finally vet acknowledged it was a vaccine reaction.
