Exactly what emali said in both her posts and DEFINITELY NOT what slc said in any of her posts.

Horses walk on their feet. Best way to keep infection going is to dig a fricken HOLE into the sole of the foot~!!

Looks like my gelding when he had an abscess in back foot. His was back in the heel area (stone bruise that abscessed). Walked just like that and was swollen all the way almost to his stifle. :eek2: Let us know what your vet says!

It did end up being a huge abscess, thank goodness. It blew but she was swollen all the way up past her hock. So we did a sweat wrap and she is on bute. Still a little off but doing much better.

I hope you're soaking it in epsom salts and packing it with ichthammol where it blew out.

I would not give bute unless she can't walk. You want the inflammation process to push that puss and infection out, no antibioitics either. Wet wrap for 3 more days. I'd soak in a bleach Epsom solution for 30 minutes on the 3rd day, then start drying it out with iodine. After pin fire paint. And wrap with cotton, Vet wrap elastikon duct tape boot until closed enough to walk on. And look at her feet to see if your trim caused the abscess due to pressure points...and look at diet.

Thank you for the advice. But I'm sticking to what my vet said. She is back to normal now.
