I'm finally getting a professional photo shoot done with my mare and I can't decide if I want to braid her forelock or not. She has a long roached mane (mohawk) so loose forelock or braided both look nice. I've seen photos of both styles and they each look beautiful and have their merits... I just need to decide!

She'll be in her new blinged browband so I'm inclined to braid so we can show it off, but many portraits I've seen have a loose forelock and it still allows the bling to peep through.

I might start with a braid and then just pull it all out to be loose? If the photographer will put up with both of us having a "wardrobe change" :ROFLMAO:

    The forelock in question:

    What do you say? :tiphat:

I think braided would look nice.

Definitely braid. It gives a clean, polished look and will set off the browband beautifully.

Looking at her colouring, I'd always braid it now that I think about it. Her forelock has a reddish tint to it that looks frazzled by the sun, but it's probably just her natural colouring this time of year. She'll look great braided and more together.

Braid. If you want to show off the browband and her gorgeous face :)

I think it depends on the look you're doing for. If you're going for a high class look in your photos, braid for sure. If you're going for more a natural or country style look, then leave it down.

Note though: if you braid it and then want to take it down, your'e doing to have a curly forelock. So if that's an idea you have, leave it down 1st and then put it up half way thru :)

I'm probably going to do some of each, hence my flip flopping! I just suck at braiding and it takes me ages so I don't want to waste her time while I try and rig a decent braid :ROFLMAO:

I'd roach that mane again so it isn't sticking up, then I'd braid the forelock.

We roach our horses to show (WP/ All around) and a fresh roach looks like a banded mane. It looks very elegant.
