Ovulation in the mare

    Could someone please tell me how long an oocyte is viable after ovulation? Thank you :)

    (bovine ET tech so I'm not super savvy on the equine side but..) You generally have a window of about 6-10 hours after ovulation where the eggs are being fertilized. Sperm typically lives 1-2 days in the female reproductive tract so that's why there's the tiniest bit of wiggle room in the timing of AI.
