So I'm sure that some of you have dogs that are strickly outside dogs. I've personally never been a fan of keeping a dog outside, mostly because the only one's that I know that keep their dog outside are usually tied to a tree or a run and done nothing with. But I'm at a dead end road with my blue heeler/pit mix Ariat. Right now, she is outside during the day and comes inside at night. We live in a small trailer and there is barely enough room for us to walk down the hallway as it is, without her barreling threw the house. She has no respect for personal space, she's got a bad habit of jumping (She's not as bad as she use to be, but she still will knock you down if you aren't prepaired, and its all out of excitement. And if you arn't watching her she will find anything and everything to chew on (including doors, she's already chewed the back pourch all to he.ck). When she is in the house she is usually crated because theres just not enough space for her to get that energy out without knocking something over. SO has been saying that we need to start keeping her outside, and I've been fighting him on it because I just dont want her tied to a tree and forgotten, and I don't want her running lose because we live close to a main road and the poor thing aint car smart. We have a fenced in yard, but it attached to the back door where we let Emma (pug) outside and that's Ariats favorite place to sit/jump up on to get someone attention inside. So, I guess heres my question: How do you transit a dog who's use to coming in the house to stay outside? And before I bet bashed, I fully admit that I have lacked/failed in the training department and let her get away with alot.
