2017 is off to a dandy start! With the help of my aunt and uncle, I was able to get the head bolts and gaskets replaced in my truck. But truck still didn't want to start on chilly days. Not talking bitter cold but between 30-40 degrees. Mentioned taking it back to shop to have glow plugs replaced. Boss says nonsense, a couple of us can do it. So Monday we did glow plugs. Truck starts fine but has been idling rough and suffering lack of power. Took it and had codes read. Low voltage to cylinder 5 and 7. So now have to figure out what we did to cause that. Truck is running like garbage.

Then get call from my back yesterday. Even though I've been approved for the refi loan for my house, it didn't appraise for enough and I was going to need $7000 to close. Something I will probably never have. Waiting on the appraisal report to see what happened there. I'm being taxed at a value of $92k but it appraised for $76k. And the best part? We valued it at the original appraisal of of $82k for divorce equity purposes. I went back and forth for quite a while on having it reappraised for the divorce and finally decided against it. Ugh!!! This weekend can't come soon enough!

Not sure on the timing. It's got 2 different control modules that affect the injectors. One of the guys who worked on the glow plugs is gonna check a few things for me tomorrow. Then it'll be back in this shop this weekend if we can't figure it out

Have you had a rainy season? Check for moisture in cylinders 5 and 7.

So much rain here lately. But it didn't start acting up until we changed glow plugs so I'm thinking it's related in some way

Hmm... not all that familiar with diesel engines, but if the vehicle is idling rough and there's a lack of power, 98% of the time, it's the plugs. An easy and cheap fix -- easy for you, if you already have new ones, just go back in and redo the job.

Mark both those glow plugs and switch them to different cylinders to troubleshoot. See if the new cylinders throw codes or if it's still 5 and 7. If it stays the same I'd look at the fuel injectors, if it changes you've got bad plugs.
