I'm looking into ALL aspects of getting a horse. From miniatures to drafts, rescues to horses who have had a good home all their life. So yeah. I'm not saying that I'll get a horse fresh off the track, but it's one of the many things I'm looking into. So... if you were choosing... would you choose a thoroughbred or a standardbred? Ex-racer, fresh off the track. I have worked with both, fresh off the track, and both are amazing horses. But they treat and train their horses a little differently around here (if the horse does poorly racing, they immidiately switch the horse to a different discipline, until they find the correct one. Racers are treated with the utmost care, and are trained to respect and be good and kind to riders of all ages, all levels.). So yeah... I've never worked with either in the US. Horses here are never disposable (unless they're little ponies that weren't trained for anything), especially racehorses. So... which would you choose? And why?
