    I need some help:)
I am thinking about taking my horse off of Patriot Senior and putting him on Nutrena's Safe Choice. I need advice on how much I should be giving him. Its been quite some years since I have had to deal with horse nutrition:wink:
This is what he was on (per my BO, he used to be his horse):
    scroll down to Patriot Senior
    http://www.admani.com/AllianceEquine/PatriotPerformanceFeeds.htm

And this is what I want to start him on:
    http://www.nutrenaworld.com/Screens/Equine/Safe_Choice.aspx

He just turned 7yo, QH gelding, 15 hh. I taped him at 1250lbs, but I think that figure is a bit off, he also has lost some weight since I started working him, but he could still stand to loose some weight and gain some muscle, he is quite a chunker:). He was a pasture puff for the first 6 years of his life and has recently started light training. So, I would say he is getting worked lightly at the moment, but I plan to step it up a notch here soon, to a little bit harder workout. He gets free range 1st cutting in the mornings and 2 flakes 1st cutting and 1 flake of second cutting in the evening.

The only 2 feeds the offer where I board at is the Patriot Senior or the Safe Choice. I am thinking the Safe Choice is the better choice for him. They feed twice a day, so in your opinion how much should he be getting of the Safe Choice at each feeding??
If you need more info, just let me know;)

    Patriot 36% supplement ;)

cost you about 50 cents a day total nutrition in 1lb LOL

I like the Patriot line better then the Nutrena line all around better company it's made by ADM

I had my TB on safe choice and honestly, it was a waste of money.

I felt like he wasn't getting any nutrition from it at all, and half the time he didn't even eat it.

I would seriously stick with a RB.

I tried SafeChoice and my horse looked horrible! He dropped so much weight that I won't ever feed it again!

I also had my mare on safechoice and it did not work for her at all. A lot of people swear by it, but personally I wont feed it again. Enrich 32 is much better.

Can you provide your own feed instead? If you prepackage/measure it they may not have a problem.
