Hey now, some cats NEED to be shaved! Don't be so judgemental!! I have a super long-haired cat with the densest undercoat I've ever seen. He is 13 years old and just got a lion cut about 2 months ago (I'm not kidding when I say this but I started BAWLING when I saw him). I raised this cat, but my mother refused to let me take him when I moved out... which was probably a good idea because he's ultra sensitive and would be extremely depressed if I moved him. Anyways, I was the one that groomed him daily... he needed it. My mom groomed him maybe once a week... did a good job cutting his mats out, but after 2 years, it got awful. I REALLY didn't want him shaved (I would tear up just thinking about it LOL) but when he got back from the groomers (apparently, he had to be put under and it took about 2 hours...) it was the saddest thing I've ever seen.... 1. because he was SO ugly... he had the most gorgeous coat on a Ragdoll I've seen, and 2. because he was covered in little sores from the mats. Now his hair is starting to grow back and he looks much better.... some cats NEED to be shaved, and not only because their owners are "lazy" or don't know how to properly groom them. My cat hated having his mats cut and would put up a huge fit.... sometimes it's just not possible.
