My pre-Belmont post that Manes quoted and is throwing a hissy fit over. Where I did not mention the Preakness one single time.

What is the point of continuing to race Justify? Isn't it better to retire him to stud now? Is it really worth the risk of injury?

He is sound and sane and will hopefully pass on his form and heart.

Honest questions, not trying to stir the pot.

It's about fan service for the most part. People want to see a Triple Crown winner run again.

Nothing to do with value and yes, the risk is there, but it's more about doing the community a favor.

It’s fun to see a good horse win more. :)
And there’s always the question, “What else can he do?” And “Is there anything he can’t do?”

It would be cool to see him run at 4 since he didn’t run at 2, but that might be too much to hope for.

Imagine if he kept racing and still managed to stay undefeated!!

This is interesting! Saw it somewhere else.

    Justify’s Belmont was 2:28.18. AP’s was 2:26.65, Affirmed 2:26.80, Seattle Slew 2:29.60, Secretariat 2:24.00.

So while his Belmont was slower than AP’s, he was quicker than the other undefeated TC winner, Seattle Slew. AP finished faster than Affirmed and, of course, nobody touches Big Red.

The Fans don't pay the Stud fees.
That aspect of consideration is moot.

The fact that after being told that giving a horse an easy Preakness race to save him for the longer, more grueling Belmont, didn't register with you and later, you repeated the same “lackluster“ comment concerning other Preakness races with well known horses.

I'd a thought, with newly received knowledge, you'd think twice before issuing that same assessment AGAIN.
    I was wrong.
    Can't teach you anything.

NO. Manes. I was talking about BELMONTS. California Chrome and Big Brown *lost* their Belmonts. Hence, lackluster.

Are you trying to tell me that they “saved” CC and Big Brown in the Belmonts for other races and that’s why they lost? Even though the TC was on the line?

I was surprised and really happy when they ran AP again after the tc.
I couldn't blame an owner for retiring though.
Freak things happen and without being able to ai they stand to lose sooooo much money if Justify were to breakdown.

No it's not. That's the reason why. It's an attempt to revive or bring interest to the sport.
