when your friend is always tired and would rather sleep 16 hours, when your friend is irritable, when your friend keeps canceling plans, when your friend seemed to have "left" himself/herself go.

It could be narcolepsy too. Feeling chronically exhausted and exasperated that 16 hours of sleep still leaves you feeling the same as if you haven't slept in 2 weeks. Begging your significant other to drive so you can nap on the 20 minute drive. Setting your phone alarm for 15 minutes so you can get a nap in your car before you leave for home after work.

That was me over a year ago. I had to speak up and request narcolepsy medication. Since then my life has been dramatically better.

I had seen so many different people and tried nearly every antidepressant before then with nothing helping and several making me feel worse. Ive also been on such high doses of levothyroxine that I was having adverse reactions such as palpitations, tachycardia, INSOMNIA, and tremors.

I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better now!
I always thought narcolepsy was dropping where you stand/sit and fall asleep...

Yes, most people think of cataplexy when they hear narcolepsy however those with cataplexy are minorities.

Cataplexy is part of narcolepsy for those with severe.

At least they'e finding humor in the situation, given she' relatively safe in the yard with her friends.

I' exhausted 24/7, sleep on each of my 15 minute breaks and often through my 30. I can sleep everywhere, anytime. Which is complete opposite of where I was last year, where I averaged 3 hours a night of sleep. Not sure what has changed, but this post makes me wonder if I need to look into it and I'm not just over worked.
