Except for Gronkowski who got the WORST ride I've ever seen~!!
Is he the one who was dead last, but came barreling up last second??
It's a competition.... nothing wrong with having a strategy. That's how you win!
Yes, 15+ lengths off of Justify.
Look at the photo showing Justify, front on, after the wire, with Gronkowski just to his left after finishing second. Compare the nostrils. Gronkowski was PUSHED way past his fitness. This is how you RUIN a horse's lungs. He is struggling to breathe.
Where is that pic?
I don't know where it is now. I saw it immediately at the end of the live race.
Are you referring to this one?
I mean, I found a few different photos and none of them looked like any one horse was breathing heavier to me. I don't think that's something you can judge from a still photo. They all have flared nostrils. I'm not saying he wasn't pushed, I'm just saying I don't think that can be told who was breathing heavier, from a photo.
1) These accusations from people make me laugh. As if there's never any strategy involved in horse racing? HA.
2) They had plenty of free and clear opportunity to come up and catch Justify for the entire second half of the race. None of them were gonna get there that day, "blocker" horse in the first turn or not.
3) Repole totally 100% had Noble Indy in there to act as the rabbit to set things up for Vino Rosso. So... he probably shouldn't talk. His strategy just didn't work out when Noble Indy didn't go the front and Vino Rosso didn't fire. That's horse racing. He looks like a pretty sore loser right now.
I prefer Steve Haskin's take on things, which was beautifully written. Justify Rewrites Triple Crown History
