What kind? Nylon, cotton, yacht braid, woven/braided nylon?

The nylon is the easiest, using rope clamps. The cotton and yacht braid would be the hardest, using splices and specialized tools.

    Materials needed:
    Rope Clamp

    Rope

    Snap
    [most common]

    Steps:

    1. Cut the desired length of rope.
    2. Melt the ends with a lighter (if fraying)
    3. Run one end of the rope through the snap
    4. Place both pieces of rope in the clamp
    5. Squeeze the clamp shut. (might have to use a vise grip)

Here is a great thread Lindsayanne made on how to make your own tail bag :)

    http://www.horsegroomingsupplies.com/horse-forums/photo-tutorial-make-your-own-3-tube-70056.html

And here is one made by HeavenlyJumper on how to make your own english saddle pad.

    http://www.horsegroomingsupplies.com/horse-forums/how-to-make-your-own-english-pad-91291.html

I've also made my own rope halters. I think this site had the easiest meathod for making them. But I make mine out of rope, not bailer twine  If you just google "rope halter instructions" there are tons of sites that tell you how to make them.

You could also try making some fleece girth covers. Just buy a peice of fleece that is about the length of your girth and abit more than twice the width. Sew the sides to make a tube and you're done :D

You can buy fleece and cut it into long strips and then attach velcro to the end and you have some nice polos. You could even add some ribbon or other fancy stuff if you like.

I have instructions on how to make a lunge line with 5/8" rope at http://allaroundhorses.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-to-make-lunge-line-or-driving-lines.html.

I also have instructions for making two types of tail bags at http://allaroundhorses.blogspot.com/2009/03/using-and-sewing-tail-bags.html.

I also plan on posting more information like that on my blog soon which you can check out at http://allaroundhorses.blogspot.com.

Rope halters are easy to make and there are instructions how all ove the internet. Just google it.

    Have fun making your creations!

Can anybody on tell me where I can order multi colored cotton rope like in the picture above in bulk? I have been looking for a supplier high and low but can't find anything except for lead ropes that are already made up. Any help sure would be appreciated.
