This morning we found my Awesome Mr Gibbs had walked over the Rainbow Bridge sometime during the night. It was totally unexpected, he was only 16, and there was no sign of a struggle, he just seemed to have dropped, no signs that his back legs kicked, a couple of scuffs in the soft ground by his front. We are thinking heart attack or aneurysm are most likely. I confess that at times when I haven't been able to find Ace, I have wondered if she had gone, she's 26, but Gibbs? he was only 16. She is missing him, keeps calling for him which doesn't help. He was my buddy, my friend, he brought me back to riding after my accident. He went from a stand-offish totally work focused ranch horse, to a best buddy, with a huge sense of humour and devilment. I am going to miss him terribly, I have never felt like this about any horse. A few friends have said that maybe he felt that it was OK to leave me in Fergies safe hooves now, so he could move on.....I would like to think so. I miss you buddy, see you later.
My heart is breaking for you Mooselady. I have a feeling he'll be watching over you and Fergie. I loved his photos, he was a stunning boy.
What a beautiful boy. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so strange how much we get attached to our 4 legged family members.
Oh ML, I'm so sorry to hear this. I would be in shock. My heart goes out to you. I'm very glad you had him in your life, from what you've said about him he was a real gentleman. Deserved the Mr. in Mr. Gibbs. RIP you beautiful boy, heartfelt sympathy to you ML.
Sorry for your loss! 16 is very young. What a way for him to go, so quickly, that there was no pain. Can someone let Ace see his body? I've seen that it helps the other horse understand what is going on.
Oh, what a terrible shock. I am so so sorry for your loss. It sounds like whatever happened happened so fast he would not have suffered. Run free forever, Mr. Gibbs. You are loved and miss down here below.
I am so, so sorry for your loss It's awful that he had to go so young, but we can only hope that our horses pass in such a peaceful way. Sending hugs your way
