It's taken 10 years, but it finally happened... And he requested it all on his own! We agreed that western is the best fit for him to learn on; he's ridden my 2 jumpers a couple of times each and had a handful of trail rides but nothing beyond that. He's not interested in arena work or competition... He wants to get out in the wilderness and be able to do "very manly and useful riding" (such as galloping across fields and back country trails ). I made it very clear that arena learning comes first, wild insanity comes later. Lovely old WP gelding that took such wonderful care of him, but also didn't make it too easy for him. I am the proudest and had to share! Figuring out the lope!
He sure did! I strongly encouraged it if he wants to see progress, and since he's such a goal-motivated guy, he's agreed to keep going
So......we should expect to see another horses added to your family soon??? You know so you can both go galloping manly around fields! Hahaha
Literally my dream since forever I never thought THIS day would come so I won't lie that I might be clinging to the sliver of a hope to get him that QH packer...! That's the hope!
Wow. That's awesome. I dont get jealous much, but I have been hoping for 25 yrs that one day my SO would trail ride with me.
He looks good!!!! My husband enjoys riding, but we manage to find time for about one trail ride a year together.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but won't hold my breath. lol I no longer have that dream. He wouldn't pay for lessons, which means I'd have to teach, and I am quite certain he would loose interested a million times faster than it would take for me to feel he was "safe" to leave the ring. I'm happy to just pull hubby on his snowboard and have him take pretty pics of me & my ponies
This is great news. Enjoying the same interests are wonderful and bonding time. Be gentle and don't push or you could push him out of it just as easily.
