    A Step by Step Guide:

    1 - cut the temperature from 75 to 50
2 - add 25mph winds from the North
3 - just as you are passing some wooden pickets leaning up against a fence, have them fall over due to said wind
4 - just when you feel the energy starting to subside, bring out the tree branch that is partially broken (from said wind) and hanging lower than it was the day before, because that's the REAL killer

Made for an awesome ride this morning

Sounds to me like you were riding here on the Ranch in Alberta.

Yesterday, while tacking up the string to come home from the mountains, the saddle blankets kept blowing off before I could place the saddles....

I forgot the part of re-energizing the horse at the end of the ride:

Ride the horse back to the barn past the newly erected pickets, spaced just so apart (we're fencing in part of the yard for the dogs), which said horse hasn't been ridden past before (though did traipse past it twenty-eleven times in the 2 days prior), and have some (scary) person "hiding" behind said fence, and just as you've let your guard down because said horsie finally realized the branch that was in a difference spot really wasn't a dragon tongue  the air compressor kicks in and the (scary) person fires off the staple gun

Once horse and human arrived back at the barn in one piece, said horsie proceeded to saunter (yes, saunter) past the (now not so scary) person and the blase air compressor and staple gun, on his way back to doing what he thought he should have been doing all along - eating grass.
