For those of you who have your own indoor arenas:
    1. What type did you get? Post and beam, tension fabric, other?
    2. How much did it cost (ballpark is fine)?
    3. What size is it?

I've always wondered how much it would cost to build one..

    Thanks!

My arena is 72 x 160, (plus stalls at end make it 200') it is an older arena, wood beams. When I built it, it was the largest you could go with wood, the jump in cost at the time for steel beams was too much. I'd like it to about 100' wide, but it's not....

It is insulated and has heaters that I never use, windows, skylights, exhaust fans.

How much did it cost? A LOT!!!! Photos for reference, it's just a plain jane type of barn. Don't forget to add the ground work, electric, plumbing, and sand footing.

Wow! That is a nice indoor arena! We got a quote to just cover ours and it was around $20k. Looked like this and our arena is 100x200 roughly.

I think you can expect to spend 150+k in most parts of the US on a clearspan pole barn/t11 siding type arena. Snow belt areas need twice as many roof trusses so it may be more. I think an all steel building would be substantially more.

I priced tensioned fabric buildings and found the price was very close to a pole barn type structure once you factored in all the base/foundation needs.

Asking how much an indoor arena costs is like asking how much a truck costs. It depends on the size and the options.

I had a 60 X 180 Morton Building put up. Can't remember the exact price for just the building. Think it might have been around $60,000 - maybe a little more. That would be just the building.

Then I added 3 stalls, footing, ceilings, heat, water, plumbing ...and more. That just about doubled the price even though we did most of the labor ourselves.

You can get the idea of a basic price by contacting a dealer of the type of building you are interested in. Just tell them that you aren't ready to buy just yet but you want a ballpark figure of what a building would cost. Keep in mind that we saved a huge chunk of money by having the building put up and then adding what we wanted. Had we had the Morton Co add all the extras, the price would have been waaayyy more than we could afford.

In Ontario.,...we just checked this out for an arena for me......we have been quoted from $90 000 plain to $225 000 finnished steel (doors/side boards/two rooms which could be storage and a viewing room/runner/runner door)....which I recommend over the canvas one...they last years'n'years'nyears longer without all the upkeep/maintanience

There are 4 companies in Ontario that do arenas.....two are excellent...the other does good work but is slow...the other owned by "Larry"......run...just run as fast as you can...his reputation here is bad for a reason.

We have our own equipement to prepare the ground with and the skill.....if you have that....take about $20 000 off but it must be up to inspector rate of work.

I can ask hayman to come here at lunch...he actually knows some of the Dutchmaster guys and alot of the others....and what their going rate is for you

    Thanks guys!

Wacin, I know there's obviously a huge range, but I was curious to see what options some people had and how much that costs. Just trying to get an idea of the range. I know one woman who spent over $500K on hers (granted it's dressed up to the nines), and another who spent $20K, so I wanted to get an idea of whether those were extremes or not. It seems they were. :)
