Does any one know any good sites showing how to make a horse hair bracelet? I tried looking and only found sites selling them. I really want one of my horses tail but I think it would be more meaningful if I made it, plus I think it would make GREAT christmas presents. So anyone wanna share your secrete? Pretty pleeeaasee.:)

The braids themselves are pretty easy to figure out. For me, it's finding the metal pieces that might be difficult...

ETA: found this link for you :)

    Hi all
I've made and sold these for awhile, stopped becuase just bored with it, let me try and give you a rundown.

First look up braiding (google) round braids are the best! 4 or 6 strand ones,

Use only tail hair! take from the bottom of the tail bone, the longest ones, about a pencil width in diameter, works well, (i always took more, thankfully friends and my horse have great heavy tails)

Now take and elastic band where you cut, take home and wash with regular human shampoo may take a couple of washings, hand to dry

when dry- take carpet thread to match and the banded end wrap tightly
and apply E-600 glue- just a bit around the thread,
    let dry

Jewlrey findings come from Joann crafts or any craft place, i found i liked the ones that were C shaped and open so you would place the tied end along with a bit more glue into this and squeeze shut with pliers, (use a towel around jewelry end so as not to scratch and damage it

now there is a loop at the end of the jewlrey finding you just put on, thread a piece of twine thru it and tie to something sturdy -cabinet door,
we use a dog crate rung, to hold it so you can braid it straight.

    then braid using whatever braid

end by wrapping with thread as you did to start, and adding the other jewlrey connection same as the other.

Make sure to keep the braid snug, but not tight, it will kink the braid,
when done, trim any hair sticking out with very sharp small scissors, and i use just a bit of hair spray to make it shine and stick together a bit.

Hope this helps, hard to explain but try it you will love it!!!
sorry don't have any pics, sold all of mine.

the worst part is washing and i mean it has to be CLEAN !!!!! no conditioner either.

    have fun,

    To canine46

I was wondering if you can tell me a website I can get the beads? I have looked at Jo-Ann Craft's online store and haven't been able to find anything that looks like it would work?
