Holding the tail up?

    Scout hold's his tail up, like this-

    He is fully bred QH. I was wondering if anybody elses horse does this, or if they know why a horse does do it? Thanks everybody :)

    my horse cody does that too. he's an appendix. i don't know why they do it.

    He seems to do it when he gets excited. Like when we are going fast, or jumping.

    It's normal horse body language :)

    A high tail set.
    Or he just is comfortable with it there. It doesnt mean hes part Arab or anything.:rolleyez:

    Jackson has a higher set tail so he keeps it slightly elevated while Felix has a short steep croup and a very low tail set so his is always nicely tucked down.

    My QH mare does that when she's excited.

    And a QH gelding I used to ride did it ALL the time, lol.

    My paint full out flips his tail up over his back when he's excited.

    As someone else mentioned, what is pictured is just normal 'tail language'. Does he just hold it like that? Or does he swish it?

    He holds like that when we are running, or jumping and he swishes it when we lunge. He hates lunging, so I'm guessing the lunging is making him angry or stressed so he swishes his tail?
