I need to write a two page paper on a topic of my choice. I chose the topic of how the ban on horse slaughter has had negative effects. I need to discuss 3 different aspects of my topic.
My 3 aspects are the overflow in rescues.
The increase in horses being neglected, abused, and abandoned by owners.
And the stress of shipping the horses so far and how they are treated when outside of US control.

I'm getting my references together because that needs to be turned in first. I can add to it later if I need to.

I would appreciate a little help on finding articles that are based on facts. I already have some on overflowing rescue.
A link to some real images would be appreciated.
Also, if there are other aspects of this topic that should be considered more than the aspects I chose, please let me know.

    TIA

How about the or any differences in shipping other stock, sheep, cattle, to slaughter versus allowances or prohibitions for horses. Double trailers, cattle trailers, I understand are not alllowed for horse transportation, locally if not interstate as a whole?
There have been horse haulers caught & fined for hauling horses in illegal/ unapproved rigs/ conditions, over the years. Sometimes its a cop-stop and sometimes it turns into an accident. Hence the regulations.

You can also discuss how the need for rescues has caused some hoarding situations.

One of the biggest things that was impacted negatively was the economy, yes there are some statistics about neglect and such. We all know how the equine industry and the economy in general went down hill after the ban.

After starting my intro, I changed my aspects a little. One is going to be on how the ban effected the equine industry, so thanks for that article @.Delete.

@Bakkir , I will definitely add animal hoarding into the section of overflowing rescues. I had forgotten about that.

@CJ, the trailer regulations will be added to how they are transported.

    Thanks

Its proven slightly difficult to find all the good references I need for this paper. Lol. Every time I type something into the search engine, almost the entire first page is animal rights and activists junk.
