wondering if anyone has used this in stressful situations?
Yes. It did help. Wasn't magic, but it took the edge off.
My brother tried it for his dog as she becomes anxious when travelling longer distances and won't sit down. He didn't see much effect unfortunately. I have seen some anecdotal evidence that suggests it works, but I think the research isn't quite as convincing, concluding in most cases that it showed a minimal improvement only, and was more helpful in specific types of stressful situations. I think it's worth a try, though, as different animals respond differently to "meds."
Thank you. We are going to a VERY big QH show next week and its being held at our State fairgrounds, where the arena has been known to freak out a lot of horses. (high walls, echoes very badly, etc)
It's expensive, but I say probably worth it.
I have been successful with seroquine from uckele along with their focus calm paste. the paste can have up to two doses in it and if you decide to go with any of these products, get it from state line tack or horse.com, its cheaper than from the uckele website.
I have her on the Smart Calm Ultra, but looking for a bit something extra for the show.
you could add in a calming paste on top of the smart calm
that's what I would like to do, there are just SOOO many different ones. this was recommended by my vet at one time, and a friend who uses it.
with as spendy as the Zylkene is....
I went with Smart Calm Ultra Paste, and ulcerguard. now, will have to decide if I want to bring her home part of the time. I only show Wed and Sunday.
