What is a forward horse? Sometimes people will say my horse is a very forward mover. Is that good or bad?

Depends what your discipline. I always take it as a compliment, as I am in dressage/hunter sports. I'd take a forward moving horse any day of the week rather than one that sucks back.

I am not a WP person, so I'm not sure if that is what someone would look for in a WP horse.

As far as hunter/jumpers forward is always better, you should ask your instructor/trainer about if your horse should be forward or not she/he will know best

I think of forward moving as a horse that has energy, impulsion, and drive. He isn't just plodding along, he's actually moving with force/purpose. He has a good stride on him, is actually powering from behind, and is able to cover ground.

as for disciplines forward is good in ANY discipline....its just the horse needs more containment in some (for ex.... wp lol) but I still like a forward horse....
