Is there anything about horses you were taught for years....that you no longer believe is true?
Only way to get a horse broke is wet saddle blankets.
Not sure if it counts, bt I spent MY ENTIRE LIFE believing that ALL white horses are born black.
Ie, that there was no such thing as a white baby horse.
I don't know why. I just accepted it as true.
You must have watched the Disney movie about the Lipizzaners like I did as a kid.
Black hooves are (not!) always stronger than white hooves.
Draw reins (do not!) put a horse in correct frame.
Teaching an english/ western horse the other discipline will just "Confuse" it.
I remember the movie, but nothing about it... do they show the black foals?
Not letting a hot horse drink water. Endurance riders have disproved that many times. Now if my horse is thirsty, I let him drink, I may pick his head up if he's piggish and let him get a few breaths, then back to drinking.
Couldn't find the scene from it. But, did find this from PBS where it shows they are all dark foals first, some are dark bay.
I think most of the horse books I read as a kid said that white/grey horses were always born black.
