I have seen a friend of mine do this. Isn't this harmful to a horse or can you feed it every once in awhile.

Last year I was riding under a trainer in Switzerland. There they gave all the horses stale bread as a treat just like we give horses apples.

I have fed stale bread as a treat, and way back when I was 17, there was a hack stable that fed all their horses ground up stale bread mixed with other feed grains, and kept them rather fat, he got the bread for free....Cathy

Well isn't "bran" similar to feeding bread? Miracle likes eating the crust from my pizza . . . I think it's ok as a treat, but I dont know if it'd be good as an everday thing. I dont know much about that. I wonder though . . .

i used to know a guy who fed his horses only bread.
i personaly wouldn't feed it as a feed, but as a treat it doesn't hurt.

We used to go to the bread store and buy all the day old bread for realy cheap, but we would only give it as treats every now and then.

No, personally and professionally, I will stand by the fact that bread is higher in starch than your every day "treat", and can upset the microorganisms in the hind gut, that can cause a LOAD of problems buggywhip mentioned and that is mentioned in the thread she posted.
