Hey, Don't forget Meadow Skipper. He was the Stud of choice when I started racing. Then Most Happy Fella came along in a few years and he was who everyone wanted to breed to. I had lots of colts from both of them.

Need to update this thread. :)

I love this horse dearly. He is the carbon copy (in personality) of my gelding that passed earlier this year.

We had a busy year, so hopped on him for the first rides in May, rode a couple times this summer, then he sat until mid November.

It was like hopping on an old broke trail horse. He gaited nicely, trotted calmly, and lead most of the way. Something seemed off when we got home. Figured out later in the week that he'd filled out and widened so much, not only did he need a new girth, he also needed a different saddle.

So tonight, my four year old son held my four year old gelding while I tried on saddles. Charlie stood calmly and even listened to the kiddo's corrections. Those two are peas in a pod.

Long story short, didn't get as far as I'd hoped this year, but I am just so thrilled every time I do anything with this horse. Even putting out round bales is a fun new cuddly adventure for him.

Everyone needs a Standardbred, they are awesome.

Annnnd both of my photos are sideways, but whatever.

This thread needs wayyyyyy more pictures!!
He sounds like a dream horse.
And yeah, from what I read on here I agree: everybody needs a Standie.

Oh, okay, I guess I can add more pictures....but he's not always photogenic. He has the "I'm unsure about this" ears going on occasionally. lol

(This is the lovely matching set that the saddle no longer fits)

Had a cold front move through today, with a lot of wind.

But its ok, because Charlie was more than happy to help me check for downed trees on the fenceline. He likes to help. Is a good helper.
