Well, we did it, we officially completed our first full Prelim horse trial yesterday! Our dressage actually went pretty well, earning a 30.7, then we had 3 rails in stadium. I don't even care about that. The horse isn't careful, we all know that, so clear rounds are going to be hard to come by at this level for him. When he does decide to jump well, he jumps REALLY well. But the rest of the time he's a little blase. I also lacked some brakes and got a little deep to a couple verticals. Whatever. But we had a really great cross country round, coming in CLEAR but obviously I didn't go for time (didn't even have my watch on) so we racked up a good bit of time faults. I just wanted a smart, confidence-building first go around Prelim, and that's exactly what we got. So incredibly proud of Henry, what a journey it's been since his first event 4 years ago!

And I finally got the pics from our P/T at Texas Rose a few weeks ago!

Second Prelim is in the books, with a 33.3 on the flat, double clear stadium, and clear XC! They had a timer malfunction on XC so put the first two divisions down as 0 time, but according to my helmet cam footage I think we should have had about 8 time penalties. Which I'm super happy with, because that venue is very twisty-turny and I don't think it's possible for me to really make time on my horse without being dangerous. He was super confident and covered my mistakes no problem, so I'm really happy with him!

We've been working our butts off on the stadium. Not that we can produce clears consistently yet, but it was nice to have all that work pay off at least this time lol.

Do you think he would actually keep going if you had an accidental dismount and lost the reins?
