Last night I watched the special on RFDTV about laminitis. They were promoting a product called Equipride and Equilix....Does anyone have any experience with these products?
Can they be used with a ration balancer?

I have all of my horses on Proadvantage Grass Formula and Beet Pulp and would like to look into adding the equilix if they are compatible with the feeding program my horses are already on. The program mentioned that the supplement could be top dressed or optimally just supplement forage diets. They talked about the great wonders this product does and specifically the horses that were on the Equilix and just hay.

Here is the link to the website if someone (one of the feed gurus) could look at the ingredients and see what they think of adding it to a ration balancer...specifically with proadvantage grass formula:D please

EquiPride and EquiLix horse feed supplements

Some of the people I use to chat with through LSER promoted it and swear by it.

When I was looking at the product for my own laminitic horse, I really didn't see anything impressive enough. Nothing really stood out at me that he wasn't already getting in his grain. And since I wanted joint supplementation as well, I passed it on. It is pricey, but not too bad.

Thanks...mine aren't predisposed to laminitis but thought I would check and see what the general thought was on this product being added to a ration balancer....I personally think it would create an imbalance but I don't know enough about nutrition to feel comfortable about making any kind of decision

I don't think they are ration balancers.....they are supplements. Two different categories.

YOu can safely feed the EquiPride with a RB. :D It is basically a pre and probiotic with added bioten and yeast cultures. It promotes a healthy digestive system and everything else falls into place. I have fed it, and loved it. Our rep suggested that you start off with the top dress (pride) and after the first bucket, basically your upload time, go to the Lix. A lot of people will just place the feed or ration balancer right on top of the lick. It is rain resistant as well as snow, sleet and mud resistant.

Thanks.. I appreciate the clarification. I was very interested in the product. Their website doesn't help much as far as information. The way it was presented on the program was that it could be feed as a SUPPLEMENT to a grain diet or hay only diet. I would like to add it to their diet but was afraid that the ingredients *which by the way I cannot find* could cause an imbalance in their ration balancer. I'll look into it. I don't think there is a dealer near us (again) so, I don't know

I use equipride. I feed it with sweet feed. Its mainly the main course(the grain you feed with it is just a "treat"). Its a nice product. I like it alot
Although i have never heard it to help with laminitis...idk
