    No, sorry, please reread. The Amish did not branch off from the Mennonites either. They were independent from each other. The Mennonites were very much in the world, even engaged in combat. The Amish were totally different. They withdrew from the world.

    They both branched off from the Anabaptists independently. They were in different countries, over a hundred years apart. Amman was never a Mennonite, Menno Simons was never Amish. They were both Roman Catholics. They first left Roman Catholicism to become Anabaptists, and then each founded their own, separate sect.
