Hello, my best friend just got a new mare Mango thru an even trade. She’s a 3 year old quarter horse that’s lightly started under saddle. Nothing fancy but knows whoa and go.
However she’s wanting to get quite a bit more weight on her before furthering her education.
Sorry the pics aren’t the best!

First off she is cute. Secondly that saddle is WAY too long for her. It's sitting on her croup almost.

The pics provided don't really do her any favors as far as presenting her conformation. You really want to have her standing square and take pics from both sides, standing about in the middle of the horse with the camera even with the horse's barrel. Also straight from the front and behind.

Yes that saddle was a one time ordeal. She already has it listed for sale is is on the hunt for a round skirt.
Mango has a short back! Lol
But yea, the pics could be a lot better. I do have movement videos but it’ll take a bit for me to figure a way to upload them.
    Thanks!!

I would offer a couple of critique points, but I'm just afraid the angles aren't very good for accuracy lol :) What are your friend's plans with her?

Very basic arena riding, and trails. Nothing direct or demanding at all. Just a good W,T,C horse.

That saddle doesn't fit AT ALL.

She doesn't need a lot more weight on her, just a bit so the ribs no longer show. As conformation goes, nothing that inhibits durability visible on those photos. She looks like she has quite a bit of Thoroughbred blood?

I’m not sure if she’s FULL quarter. She’s not registered. I kind of see a STB head on her. But could be wrong...
hopefully I can get better pics soon. I’ll work on the videos now.
    Thanks!!

She is cute! I can't give a critique because these shots just don't give a clear view. Try having someone hold her for you, square her up, and take a picture from each side, and in back of and in front of her. Then maybe some of us can give you some constructive feedback.

That's no western horse at all. Looks more like a gaited cross that didn't get the gait.

I would ride him English, depending on attitude would make a nice lower level dressage prospect because of the very good walk and decent trot Can't say anything about the canter because in the round pen so unbalanced and rushed. I like him. There may be potential for more than a nice trail horse, but not in the Western world.
