yes.... yes they friggin do!
I think they're friggin' adorable and considered them before I got my first mini Aussie. The shedding thing was what deterred me. My dogs are with me all the time in my house, office, and pickup.
The shedding was a no thanks for me. Stinks, I really like them!
The shedding thing has kind of slowed my want for one too, I have mainly carpet and I can't imagine vacuuming every day.
I want a ACD so bad though, how much do they shed?
A surprisingly high amount. They are double coated and blow the undercoat almost constantly.
You can kind of combat it by having a groomer regularly do a deshedding treatment, which involves a deshedding coat shampoo and a good blowout.
My mini Aussies shed too, but I regularly brush them and take them to a self grooming place, where I use the powerful blowers to get the undercoat off. I also trim their feathers and booties quite a bit with thinning shears. I never notice their hair on my or in my house, but I see it all over my dark gray carpet in my pickup; I have leather seats so it isn't on the seats.
Ha, I forgot about the double coat, i just love the breed, I've had 3, but all outdoor dogs. I'd like to find a really good dog to come inside at night since i'm either alone or there with my daughter. I think I'll just get a chihuahua.
Dog hair is an accessory, no?
I had an ACD. They do blow their coat like twice a year. The times between that is not so bad. Regular brushing and an occasional bath will keep it under control, HOWEVER, I didn't have carpet so that might act like a fur magnet I don't know.
