Buckskin or smokey black??

    I bet they tested her for agouti too. I think she's smokey brown personally.

    Okay, do smoky browns have the same odds of throwing cream as a smoky black? Not saying that I am looking to bred or bred this mare, I am just curious.

    And what makes you think smoky brown?

    Smoky black is 1 cream on black
    Smoky brown is 1 cream on brown

    So yes, same odds of each throwing their cream gene - 50% each time :)

    Just not quite black enough to be smoky black IMO. She has the classic light underline, muzzle and back of hindquarters of a brown/smoky brown.

    Then what is Buckskin? 1 cream on black + agouti??

    Comparing to what JB wrote, it would be "1 cream on bay". Bay and brown are different variations of agouti.
