Should I use black or clear hoof polish on my mare for shows? I'm conflicted with what would look best on her considering she's chocolate brown but with four white legs. What do yall think? Cici.png

Clear on white hooves is what I've always heard, but I don't do hoof polish, so maybe others can help. :p

I loathe black hoof polish. Especially on hooves that aren't black.

    Clear.

Also... you need to tighten up that show halter a lot. It should be almost too small.

Look into what your breed shows in for halter, i'm guessing it isn't a standard show halter.

also, you want to clip the legs

for hoof black, also check standard for your breed. for him I would do clear. I had always done clear on my mare (in avatar) and a trainer friend of mine (shows AQHA) said I should do hoof black if i'm doing showmanship.... and I have to say, she looked pretty sharp.... but she is a dark bay.

Many breed associations only allow clear, check your rule book.

Ok, thanks! It was a beginner show, my mare's first, so it wasn't a huge deal about her legs, we're gonna fix her up a bit better for our next show.

Clear as her hooves aren't dark. What breed is she? Nice mare.
