Riding my friends ex-racehorse. She has 2 rides on her post track. Both times I put her in this bit

Because that's the only snaffle I had set up. I told my friend yesterday I want to switch her to this

She has a soft mouth and good stop I dont think she needs the twist and I dont like twists if I dont need them. My friend said no she wants to keep her in the twist (keep in mind she only "rode" the mare for a few short minutes yesterday after I rode) . I'm just doing small fun type shows nothing rated I'm NOT a rated rider by any means and dont desire to be. Am I wrong to want to put her in the second bit?

I think you were wrong to stick her in a twisted wire right away.

Personally, I'd find a french link bit with a lozenge and start there. Always start soft.

It was that or Jr cowhorse and I didnt want the leverage because I knew her from the track and knew she didnt need that. I think I have a French link with lozenge somewhere I gotta go through my bits right now everything is set up for my barrel horses and my own horses in training

    Yes, start here! :)

My OTSTB still preferred to have a curved mouth bit, but this is usually a good place to start.
