Loving the conditions at the show, with Gibbs, last May, this was the collecting ring, the arena was worse...

This last weekend, in the arena.

    How absolutely gorgeous!:running:

The best one I ever took was clear back in the late 80's and the picture has managed to do a disappearing act over time:(

I was on some old walking trails, that had recently been opened up to horses (back in the 80's), in Moraine state park near my home when I lived in PA.

I almost missed the little grave marker that was from the 1800's. I took a picture of it from between my black Morab mare's ears. You could clearly see the date but the name was hard to make out. It was the grave of a small child. I looked around thinking I had stumbled upon an old family grave site but, that wasn't the case. After hunting down a historian for that area, I learned that old walking path I was riding my horse on, was originally on some sort of "wagon train" type trail and since I only saw one grave marker, it was undoubtedly that of a child who had passed away during the move to settle in some new place.

It was in Moraine State Park in western PA and boy how I regret not being able to find that picture:( http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/moraine/index.htm

Beyond that, I have to hunt on my desktop to see what got rescued by the compute repair folks when my hard drive crashed last year. There were some decent pics but nothing to ever compare to that 1800's grave marker in the middle of nowhere.

I never take pictures while riding, so this picture is actually from a particularly warm day in December. We went to visit my friend (who actually wasn't home, but my gelding liked visiting her TBs anyway)

Old picture back in Washington. Had to walk about 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile along these pastures to get to the trails. My little slice of heaven. These were hay fields, so the grass would grow very high, up to my saddle at times. I always thought it was so beautiful when the grass was at it's tallest on a windy day. It was like walking through an ocean of green, the breeze going through the grass looked like waves.
