Hey guys! I've been promising an art update for ages now, and it's finally here. I'd meant to post one over winter break but things got wild pretty quickly - I was working a few jobs, spending time with my SO (we're long distance while I'm in school so a lot of time spent at home is devoted to quality time with him), helping with training my parents' new puppy, trying to squeeze some time in with my horse (who I DESPERATELY missed), and still trying to have at least a little bit of a social life. Then the new semester hit and things somehow managed to get even more crazy. So, a few life updates - I'm about halfway through college now, working on my BFA in painting and drawing. I've been attending a school in the upper East Coast, but I'm hopefully transferring (!!!) next semester to sunny California. I'm incredibly excited. I go to one of the top art schools, but I hadn't realized going into this school how poopy the painting program is. The school I'm wanting to transferring to is one of the top ten figurative art schools in the world. Not sure if I'll get accepted, but I sure hope so. I also was accepted to the Portrait Society of America Conference on a full scholarship. This was a huge deal because a few hundred college students applied and only a couple got the scholarship. I'm pretty dang excited about it. Now what ya came for - the art. I think (???) I might have posted some of these before, but I'm not sure. Anyway, enjoy! "Green Dream," an oil painting of my partner from 2016 "Femme Fatale," oil on canvas from 2018 "Don't Rat Me Out," oil on copper / fall 2017 I can never remember the title of this one so it has about 10,000 different titles but it's from 2017 "Tinder Tiger Selfie," oil on canvas, spring 2017 "Apocrypha," oil on copper, fall 2017 A quick, 20 minute portrait from class, done a few weeks ago Some oil paint studies on a transparent surface called duralar. These were done last fall. Two charcoal studies from the spring of 2017. Three life drawings from last semester, all are graphite A hand study (graphite) with a piece of tracing paper showing the bone placement. Done from life. Some facial feature studies, all done in graphite More facial feature studies, again all graphite Some figure drawings from the spring of 2017 Two 20-minute figure drawings, done from life. The left is from a few weeks ago and the right is from last spring. And now, a few of the paintings I'm currently working on. No title for this one yet, but it's huge, the figure is life size. Again, no title. This painting is slightly smaller at 30ishx36ish inches. And finally, a paper bag study I'm working on. Those folds are HARD, man! Enjoy, guys!
