Are Pecan Tree Harmful to Horses

    I am about to board my horse in a pasture with many pecan tree that as I have heard produce alot of Pecan each year. I was wondering if horses can eat pecan, there leaves, the bark or anything.:confused:

    My sister boarded at a place in TX with tons of pecan trees in the pastures and the horses loved them... never had a problem.

    I'm not aware of any studies that indicate they might be poisonous. The only issue might be if your horse is not used to them and he eats alot.

    I've never heard of it either. I have some horses in a pasture with those in it; I have had no problems.

    our horses never bothered the pecan trees except to rub against them occasionally. so i would think they are safe, i have a pasture with lots of pecan trees and have never had any issues with them. you should be good to go.
