I found and read the original mission statement of ISPMB. Guess what? The woman who founded it wanted the colts gelded and all the horses trained and available for sale.

The whole thing is crazy and the person who made this mess is Karen Sussman.

I don't think she ever made enough money to run an operation like that.

The mission statements of many organizations and businesses are often not realistic given their budget and business plan, resources, etc.

What source of income did she have all this time? Was she working, or is there any indication she was living off the donations for the horses?

If she had done that from the start, however, she wouldn't have wound up with so many horses. But gelding costs money, generally. I see no evidence that she was capable of running around with a pen knife and doing it herself.

sly - are you asking about Velma (Wildhorse Annie) who founded it and is long dead, or Karen who has been president for a number of years?

If you're asking how Karen supports herself, she's a clinical nurse. One of her daughter's is a physician (so maybe she tries to persuade mom to take better care of herself), the other one is an attorney in Arizona.

Latest from the ISPMB Facebook page:

THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED. PLEASE READ.

THE ISPMB HORSES ADOPTED SO FAR CAN STILL LEAVE
Apparently there was a misunderstanding on the part of the Sheriff about the adoption campaign, who was notifying people that no horses could leave the ISPMB property after midnight tonight- adopted or not, and that they would be sent to auction later this month. The official word from the State's Attorney to Fleet of Angels through our attorney this evening is: 'Anyone who has applied to adopt horses by midnight tonight will still be able to pick up horses approved for them.' HUNDREDS OF HORSES ARE STILL AT RISK OF SLAUGHTER.
    .
We have not yet been given access to two of the herds, so we're trying to match up horses and applications as much as we can, until more horses are released to us to adopt out. For the moment, we can honor the adoptions that have been approved- BUT rescuers and transporters STILL NEED A LOT OF HELP funding transportation, feed, and care for horses applied for, or they may not be able to get them after all.
    .
This is a link where donations to a general fund can be made, so financial assistance can be provided to some of the transporters and adopters who need supplemental funds so badly to cover transportation costs, medical care, and other urgent needs for the horses they are willing to help. http://www.ispmbhorserescuemission.org/.
    .
Please also help the 501(c)3 rescues that are adopting horses by going to their websites and making contributions directly to them. They ALL need help to make this work. No one had the extra funds on hand to take on all these extra horses, so they are relying on your help to get through the next several very tough months of providing these horses with what they need.
    .
We continue to explore what the future holds for this adoption campaign and for those innocent horses. We still want to prevent any horse from going to slaughter! So, forward ho- KEEP HELPING in any way you can. Thank you ALL for helping save as many of the ISPMB horses as possible! 11-30-2016

The situation continues to get worse. A maximum of 270 could be adopted/purchased before the sale. The sale has to happen so the counties can recoup some of their money. The weather has been awful but Sussman has been in the midst of it, literally, not letting people load horses, getting hurt, etc. I don't know why she isn't in jail for interfering with a court order. People who came up with trailers and eventually had to leave without horses are not likely to show up for the auction because they burned through their money. So if the bulk of these horses do go to slaughter, it's a situation entirely of ISPMB's making. I know, I know, Sussman has been running the show but the BOD had a duty and obligation to the organization and that means they could have (and should have!) removed her and gone back to the original charter. The one that stated horses would be gelded (if applicable), trained and sold.

I'm confident that the woman who founded this organization would be appalled if she were alive to see what has happened.

Wow. Someone referenced the thread (threadS really) about DT/NNER/Scarlet's Legacy in response to a post about Deanna Tierney showing up twice with her trailer (and still no DOT number I bet!) and guess who popped up like a herpes outbreak?

Doesn't matter who started what threads when the facts and pictures speak for themselves. DT is a hoarder and a scam artist. Oh and while we are on the subject, isn't she supposed to be getting way down on horses since her husband died? Just saaaayin

DT has had her hand in the free mustang "cookie jar" several times. She was selling hay this summer/fall.

It's been posted several times that she will transport and board mustangs for people in the area.
Good luck with anyone who takes her up on that.
