Today I was more relaxed so I rode better, weird how that works. Lol. Again, lead changes are a work in progress. We placed 5th out of 16 in 2' Jr/Amateur Over Fences today! It felt amazing and I will have pics and videos as soon and my computer is done doing a software update....

He wasn’t exactly on his best behavior but we pushed through it and worked our tails off! I went into the lesson terrified after hearing how hard she is on riders. I left on cloud 9 with glad to work towards! It was money well spent and to hear her constant compliments on where my riding is now vs even in the show videos and how Ace has progressed from there along with her pointing out what needs work and how I can improve was well worth the money! It wasn’t an easy lesson and I’m a bit embarrassed by Ace’s antics but hearing her say she quite likes my horse even through all that was pretty awesome! I do need to get new pics and videos but I can’t achieve that on my own!

Thank you! He’s a handful! He’s a giant kid who knows he’s bigger then everyone else. Very respectful towards people though!

I just received all the stuff to send in for his PSSM 2 and PX testing. I was at my wits end with him until I joined the PSSM Forum on Facebook and geared his whole life around thinking he has PSSM 2. Now I have a whole new horse who can actually retain muscle and is actually starting to get fat! Once I get his panel back and if anything comes back positive I will then test Serenity. 08D0276F-45BA-45EB-87FC-54B455DC8A3B.jpeg 2D8189AF-7240-4A71-866D-F794F125D894.jpeg 9AA87FCB-161D-42A7-B47C-D08E6D9BA205.jpeg D5A6F273-1C5B-4814-A677-EE12AD4ADCB0.jpeg

PLEASE let me know what your results yield because I have been thinking of doing the same with my mare, Lindy. I too am at my wits end! :(

I’ve been focusing on some flat work with Ace and he’s had some time off after his pretty rigorous training schedule this year. I also switched jobs and have access to Triple Crown now so I switched from Purina Ultium to Triple Crown Senior. I swear Ace is calmer! I’m not sure why but somewhere between his 4yr old and 5yr old birthday he became pretty spooky and untrustworthy out on trail. The PSSM 2 focused diet helped a great deal with his body and his spookiness. With the switch in grain I was actually able to ride him out with 2 other horses with just a couple spooks, and then 2 days later I was able to ride him in a new area to work and then cooled out with a short walk down the dike that he used to flip out going down. So progress!

If he is not PSSM, it could be the same issue Foxy had, corn in the diet. Purina Ultium was one of the corn grains that messed him up movement wise and mind wise amongst other issues and one of two that also gave him hives, the other Safe Choice Original. I almost tested him for PSSM based on this first video. Days later I found out he was still getting corn in his diet via his oats, they added flaked corn to it. The second video is just two days off of corn. Another friend had the same issue feeding Purina Strategy, Foxy's first corn grain that started his lameness issues back in 2008 and Safe Choice Original. Two days she also saw a quick transformation. Her vet went from telling her to retire him to saying he's not ready to retire. I also switched to Triple Crown Senior, corn free.

Note in the first video he also was short striding very bad on his right hind leg. That issue is almost gone just by taking corn out of his diet.

Two days no corn just the following week. Moving much freer and barely short striding on his right hind. His balance has improved so much already my farrier is talking about taking his pads off that were added when he went on Purina Strategy back in 2008.

His issues have been going on since I warned him. He’s been on so many different diets over the years and that included complete grain free and nothing helped until I added in multiple supplements that are proven to help PSSM 2 horses. It may not be PSSM but he does have tie up issues as well. So hopefilully these tests give me some answers! If it all comes back negative then I’ll be cluesless again, but at least I seem to be on the right track! Lol. Which feedback good. Up until this last year I seriously felt like I was fighting a loosing battle.

I definitely prefer Triple Crown as a feed company so I’m glad I have easier access to it now!
